"Educated at Trinity College, Kandy, Ceylon. He gained his technical training at the Government Railway Workshopp. On 30 june 1890 he was employed as a foreman of Railway Workshop, in 1893 as Locomotive Foreman, Kinta Valley Line and in 1895 was Locomotive Foreman, Kinta Valley Line. On 25th may 1896 he was on vacation leave and resumed duties on 6th july 1896 on return from leave. He drew at this time a salary of $2,160 per annum. He retired as Locomotive Superintendent, Ipoh and died 19 sep 1941. His son is Mr Noel Ferdinands of Ipoh.
